Description
The successful Supplier will be required to provide catering services for George Stephenson High School, Killingworth, NE12 6SA.
George Stephenson High School is looking for a provider who will work in true partnership with the school to deliver the catering service on site. The school has approx. 1 200 students years 7-13 and 149 staff.
Contract value, we do not have access to any current data with regards to sales figures or turnover but based upon unconfirmed information suggest:
Estimated cash sales of approx. 1 000 GBP per day, therefore x 190 days = 190 000 GBP
Free school meals = 30 096 GBP per annum
Hospitality = 4 500 GBP per annum
Therefore 224 596 GBP annual turnover x 3 years = 673 788 GBP
The Client's objectives in putting the catering contract out to tender are:
Introduce Cashless Provision linked with Parent Mail (Parental is currently used for all other school payments - alternatives cannot be considered).
Healthy Eating - maintain current standards of excellent food service and provision. Current team based on site are well regarded.
Capital Investments - the Client would welcome some capital investment.
Value for Money/Cost Savings/Income Generation - the Client is looking for catering costs savings and income generation.
All fixed and light kitchen equipment is owned by the current provider; the Client would like to move towards owning its own kitchen and equipment.
We understand that most catering staff will be members of LGPS and admitted body status would therefore be expected with regards to pension provision.
The contract will commence on 1.4.2020 and will be for an initial period of 3 years with the option to extend for a further 2 years.

The contracting authority will not be liable for any costs incurred by those expressing an interest in tendering for this contract opportunity.
The contracting authority will consider variant bids, evaluating them (so far as the variant or the evaluation of the variant is in the opinion of the contracting authority practicable) on the same basis as a conforming bid, but shall not be obliged to accept any such bid in preference to a conforming bid even if the variant bid scores more highly. No variant will be considered unless the bidder simultaneously submits a conforming bid.
