Description

The Southport Theatre and Conference Centre (STCC), overlooking the Marine Lake, is the Town's principal conference and banqueting venue and as such plays a significant role in Southport's visitor economy. The STCC enjoyed a major £8m plus upgrade in 2008 which extended the conference elements of the facility including a new 900 square metre exhibition space and substantial new kitchens to lift the banqueting capacity to circa 1000.

In recent years the STCC has experienced a lower number of conferences using the building. The condition of the building, with the core elements having had minimal capital investment for many years, and the increased competition opening recently has also contributed to a reduction in future business booked.

Sefton Council is seeking to appoint an experienced business tourism & conference venue development consultant who will provide and manage a multi-disciplinary professional team to review site information, undertake comprehensive feasibility studies and appraisal of long-term investment and redevelopment options for the STCC.

The aim of this feasibility study is to set a vision to develop and enhance the STCC to help establish it as a leading conference, exhibition, event and entertainment venue.
The Objectives of the feasibility Study are;

Ensuring the town has enhanced facilities to maximise occupancy and revenue, meeting the needs of existing and future clients to ensure successful events and enabling the operation to be more profitable, as well as complementing the vision and offer of Southport

Enhance the attractiveness, and functionality of the STCC that will lead to an excellent experience for customers and partners and allow a flexible range of uses.

Ensure wider benefits are maximised such as the economic impact for the wider area.

Reduce whole life costs and carbon footprint of the venue to help contribute to Sefton's 2030 target.

Developing a design and construction solution that enables delivery of these objectives, with both current operations and future opportunity in mind.
