Description

South Kilworth Parish Council have recently been awarded a Community Grant from the Jubilee Fund of £70,000 to establish a new Multi-Use-Games-Area for the village and we seek to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified contractor to carry out the works on South Kilworth Sportsfield LE176DS
The Parish Council are proposing a (circa) 30m - 36m x 18m Multi Use Games Area which would have an all weather surface suitable for both informal play and team sports and which should include a 'shooting wall'. We envisage the MUGA to be surrounded by 3m high, dark coloured fencing. At some stage in the future we may seek to install floodlighting when funding allows and so we wish to include cabling to the site be completed during the MUGA construction.
The area upon which the MUGA would be situated lies on the edge of the village recreation/playing fields, near the centre of the village. The proposed site which is level, well drained and currently laid to grass, is only used for casual play. There is also a well used play ground close by which is focused mainly on younger children, so we believe there is a need for more recreational facilities /opportunities for adolescents, older children and adults . There is a shortage of informal recreational facilities for these groups in the village and a MUGA is considered to meet these needs and to be flexible in terms of the types of games which can be played on it.
After consultation we envisage the MUGA will be used for :
5 a-side Football and winter football training for the local village teams
Tennis ( there are no facilities for tennis in the village)
Netball ( the village school has expressed an interest in using the MUGA for organised games hence our interest in a full netball court size Muga at 36m )
Bowls (the local Bowls Club wish to establish winter practice sessions)
Informal Play / basketball / kickabout (especially with a shooting wall included in the design).
The MUGA design needs to comply with Regulatory and Planning requirements and also reflect the local Neighbourhood Plan (CF2) which states all development should take into account the needs of those with disabilities.

Discussions with Planning Authorities have begun and we expect the project will be completed within 6 month timeframe from awarding the tender and securing planning approval. To arrange an accompanied site visit or to request further information, please contact our Parish Clerk (see contact details).

All tenders should include evidence of the successful completion of similar MUGA projects and are to be submitted in writing, in a sealed marked envelope addressed to:
The Proper Officer, South Kilworth Parish Council, 63 Pickering Road, Broughton Astley, Leics, LE9 6WS.
The tenders will be opened after the deadline for submissions has passed.
Due to the holiday period we are extending the date for final tenders to be submitted to 17th January.
