Description

The contract is for the cleaning of the market as well as waste management which includes collection of waste, recycling and disposal. Waste generated on site equals, on average, 12 - 13000 tonnes of mixed associated market waste per year i.e. organic, cardboard, timber, plastic, polystyrene etc. Within the contract there is an emphasis on 0 % landfill, over 95 % recycling, and cost reductions/incomes regarding recyclables. The market operates for trading 6 days a week and due to the nature of the business, contractor's staff are employed 24/6 in order to ensure that cleaning and waste management are proactively managed. The cleaning aspect of the contract relates to common areas within the main 309 000 ft² wholesale pavilion; all roadways; all external distribution areas connected to the 40 000 ft² Catering Supply Buildings area; some 1000000 ft² of parking areas; all of which are required to meet the exacting standards of all relevant Food Hygiene and Health and Safety legislation.
