Description

Liverpool City Council have identified a number of traffic signal junctions across the city that vary from 30 to 50 years in age. This age relates to traffic lanterns, poles, push buttons and cabling. This procurement is for the design and build/replacement of the traffic signals at these junctions.

This contract will include the designing of the upgrades to each of the relevant junctions, the removal of existing traffic signal equipment and the installation of new traffic signal equipment along with all associated highways works.

Each traffic signal installation will provide enhanced facilities for walking and cycling, will be upgraded to the latest standards and provide energy saving benefits through the upgrade to Extra Low Voltage (ELV) equipment.

The upgrade of the traffic signal junctions will improve safety at junctions reduce congestion on the network and provide a long-term solution that will enable the council to better manage its highway network through the minimisation of future routine maintenance.

LCC will seek to award a contract for the maximum number of junctions possible within the available budget. This will be between a minimum of five and a maximum of nine junctions based on a predetermined priority order.
