Description

Bidders are asked to submit a formal tender for the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) for the Examination of natural history specimens, specifically Diatoms.

NML is looking to procure an electron microscope that allows flexible examination and digital image capture of a wide range of museum collections, including diatoms.

The SEM should provide a range of magnification from 5x to 300,000x. It should provide both low and high vacuum capability to ensure both coated and uncoated material can be examined. Have a secondary electron detector and backscatter electron detector. It will have a stage which is motorised in 5 axes, a Chamberscope, a navigation system, automatic gun alignment and accelerating voltage 0.5-30 kv.

The SEM will include a digital system which includes a PC with Monitor and is equipped with on-screen measurement software. Imaging software will be included with both 2-D and 3-D image capture. The software should be user friendly.

Delivery and installation is to be completed no later than Friday 5 March 2021
