Description

National Museums Liverpool (NML) is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Principal Contractor to dismantle and dispose via recycling the vessel De Wadden, south dry dock, Canning Quaysides. The appointed Principal Contractor must be experienced and sympathetic to undertaking works in a listed maritime heritage environment. De Wadden is a three-masted auxiliary schooner built in 1917 by Gebr Van Diepen of Waterhuizen, Netherlands, for the Nederlandsche Stoomvaart Maatschappij (Netherlands Steamship Company).

The procurement documents detail the steps that the appointed contractor must comply with to ensure we remove the vessel safely and compliantly and gives a detailed plan of the methodology for the sectioning and removal of the vessel. The vessel has less than 500 gross tonnage so although NML are not required to comply with the Ship Recycling Facilities Regulations (SI) 2015 No.430 (2015 UK Regulations) (UK SRR), NML want to ensure a high level of safety and compliance in the removal. All RAMS will be reviewed by the NML H&S Department.

The dismantling and disposal via recycling of the vessel De Wadden must be completed by March 2024.

The value of this procurement is estimated to be between £150,000 - £200,000, exclusive of VAT.
