Description
Dacorum Borough Council is seeking a contractor to undertake riverbank repairs at Durrants Lakes in Apsley, Hemel Hempstead.
Durrants Lakes is located within a green corridor at the south east entrance to the town - an area of former cress beds at the confluence of the river Gade and Bulbourne, close to the Grand Union Canal. The River Gade rises from a spring in the chalk of the Chiltern Hills, thus the river and associated waters are calcareous in nature.
The works comprise the repair of two areas of damaged bank between
- the River Gade and a small pool of former cress beds
- the Frogmore End side channel (leading to the town's flood relief culvert) and a small fishing lake
