Description

Brighton & Hove City Council are seeking a Service Provider to provide a cafe service located on the lower ground floor of Tarner Children's Centre, Ivory Place, Brighton, BN2 9QE.

Amenities include; Class A3 site with seating for 30-35 people and kitchen with equipment, part of Children's Centre, Public transport links, no VAT charged on annual rent, WC facilities, and all mains utilities.

A new tenancy is available on flexible terms. BHCC are proposing asking for Service Providers to suggest their own rental contribution. The highest rental option would then score the highest marks in evaluation.

Tarner Children's Centre is located on the corner of Ivory Place and Morley Street. There is currently a building development consisting of student accommodation, residential buildings, and commercial units opposite the Children's Centre.

The Children's Centre has a full activity diary with an average 150-200 families attending groups each week. The Centre is also a place for families to meet professionals such as Health Visitors, Midwives, Speech and Language Therapists etc. The Friends Centre, who provide an adult education programme and the Sexual Health Clinic are also located within the Children's Centre.

The cafe tenant will be required to open for the minimum period from 10:00am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday, exclusive of Bank Holidays. The hours may be expanded to occasional evenings and weekends. The cafe will be closed between Christmas and New Year and for two weeks during the summer holidays.

The cafe tenant and all workers must have a valid DBS.
The cafe tenant and all workers must have a current food hygiene certificate.

The Council would wish the cafe tenant to support council policies to include;
Healthy eating, Food sustainability, and volunteering and apprenticeships.

The Council expects the Service Provider to;
Provide a cafe service to people using the building.
Maintain a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all members of the community.
It is possible that a number of meetings etc will take place in the building and other associated buildings and it is possible that the Service Provider may be asked to cater for their requirements.
Offer a comprehensive range of hot and cold beverages.
Provide good quality, well produced, simple food representing value for money.
Provide a menu with a variety of healthy snacks and sandwiches that respond to a range of different dietary needs. Including health and religious needs of children and families attending the centre.
Source Fair Trade wherever possible.
Commitment to the environment
Tenant to be on site 75% of the cafe's opening times.
