Description

This project is part of the Pilot scheme recommended by the Taylor Review to run in Manchester and Suffolk. It will create and deliver a series of workshops to offer training and support to communities and volunteers in the areas involved in the Pilot scheme. These workshops will be free for attendees.

The workshops will have three main functions:
o to build confidence so that those with responsibility for places of worship feel able to undertake basic regular maintenance;
o to encourage faith groups to engage with the wider community to build mutually beneficial partnerships;
o to highlight potential sources of funding to support both activities.

The workshops are intended to increase the number of people who can benefit from the Pilot, providing an additional resource to reinforce and extend the work being done by the Community Development Advisers in Manchester and Suffolk and the Fabric Support Officers in Manchester and Suffolk appointed as part of the Pilot.

The workshops will operate at a local level in the Pilot areas throughout the Pilot.

One contract will cover both pilot areas and as we will be looking for innovative approaches to community learning and the workshops (as set out in the section below on Methods and Scope, 1.3.4), it is possible for multiple groups to submit a joint bid for this contract. Such a grouping might be based around geographical locations or combined experience with fabric and community engagement work).

The scheme will run from September 2018 until March 2020.
