Description

The aim of the study is to examine the operational model of the ISIS facility with regard to the experimental programme and science outputs. The facility has run with the same operational principles since its inauguration. The through put of the experimental programme from beamtime application to published paper is a complex processes covering many months. The study will look at the end to end process and develop alternatives to the present model.

The facilities within the STFC are a large investment in the research infrastructure and as such scrutiny of the operation is an important part of providing assurance of value for money. An independent review of the operation of such a complex system will provide an opportunity to improve , restructure or affirm the different strands of the process.
