Description
Public Health England have awarded Local Authorities a ring-fenced grant to procure tier 2 weight management programmes. Tier 2 weight management programmes for overweight or obese adults are multi-component programmes that aim to reduce a person's energy intake and help them to be more physically active by facilitating behaviour change. The intention is to commission provision of a range of tier 2 weight management programmes that runs for 12 months up until December 2022. This programme must deliver the three components of a Tier 2 Weight Management Programme; diet, behaviour change and physical activity.
The Public Health England grant is for local authorities to commission a new or expand upon an existing weight management service. In Merton there is currently no tier 2 weight management service and this will therefore be commissioned as new.
