Description

Places of Worship and historic buildings have a duty to manage, maintain and restore the fabric of their buildings.. This tender invites submissions from organisations or sole traders who are qualified to deliver a range of Lightning Protection System Testing and Maintenance Services to listed and unlisted Places of Worship and Historic Buildings ( including associated domestic and non-domestic buildings) across England and Wales, as commissioned by Registered Users ( Users) through the MaintenanceBooker service, a national procurement portal ran by 2buy2 and the National Churches Trust.

Scope of Services
Visual Inspection of all accessible areas of the LPS should include the following:
a. Design conformity with the as installed standard
b. General conditions of the LPS
c. Damaged or unfixed conductors and components
d. Corrosion (especially between dissimilar metals)
e. Additions or alterations to the LPS since the last inspection
f. Extensions to the structure not covered by the original LPS
g. Installation of new equipment, with particular reference to items h. i. and j.
h. The presence of Surge Protection Devices and their functionality where possible
i. Equipotential bonding for all systems where items are directly connected to the LPS
j. Separation distances for BS EN 62305 systems with items protected by zone protection and not bonded to the LPS

2. Testing of the LPS should be carried out using a method of testing appropriate to the system design and the structure's location in accordance with BS :6651:1999 or BS EN 62305. Testing of earthing should be done in accordance with BS 7430:2011 Code of practice for earthing.
