Description

The Council is looking to improve its assistive technology offer to people living with dementia. The current offer is a based on traditional analogue solutions. With the analogue switch-off in 2025, the Council is keen to trial wholly digital solutions that connect via the internet and offer instant connectivity for carers using a smartphone or tablet.

Working jointly with partners in the District and Borough Councils, we plan to run a pilot using a digital home monitoring solution, for people with dementia who are living at home.

The pilot will be for 50 people and is expected to last for 6 months. It will operate in the following geographic areas: Charnwood, North West Leicestershire, Hinckley and Bosworth, Blaby, Oadby and Wigston. The pilot is seeking to achieve the following outcomes:
• People are supported to live as independently as possible at home
• Family and carers are reassured about the wellbeing of the person being cared for
• People are supported, through technology to return home quickly and safely, after a hospital admission
• People are supported, through technology to improve their health and wellbeing and have a better quality of life
• Delivers technology that is reliable, easy to use and affordable
• Technology adopted promotes co-ordination and communication between partner agencies
