THIS CONTRACT
Dynamic Dunescapes runs over the next three years and this Contract is for works between 9th September 2021 and 28th February 2022. High water tables and the potential for flooding mean works need to start as early as possible in September.
Scraping can go-ahead on areas that have been surveyed for unexploded ordnance (UXO - see below). Areas of scrub that have been UXO surveyed can be cleared and burnt using the Contractors preferred methodology. Areas of scrub that are too dense to be UXO surveyed will require a two stage process: firstly cutting and removing vegetation without penetrating the sand; to allow UXO Engineers access to survey, and secondly returning to the same areas to remove/scrape the remaining vegetation to dune turf or clean sand as required by the Contract.
Variations to the timing by agreement with the Project Officer, and subject to UXO clearance.
This Contract is to clear 42 hectares of scrub and separately to create 10 hectares of scrapes.
The works areas will be separated into discrete blocks. See tables IN ATTACHMENT indicating the height and density of scrub in each area (area measurements are approximate). Table 1 shows the areas to be scraped. Table 2 the areas to be cleared of scrub.
CONTRACT MANAGEMENT
The Dynamic Dunescapes restoration work at Braunton Burrows is led by Plantlife. This Scrub and Scrape Contract runs over the Autumn & Winter of 2021 / 22 from the 9th September to 28th February 2022. The work is overseen by the Braunton Burrows Project Officer (PO) who will maintain frequent contact to facilitate and monitor the contract.
HOW TO APPLY
If you have a proven track record of delivering the type of work outlined in the Specification and are interested on taking on this Contract then please supply the following information:
· Details highlighting experience and understanding of clearing scrub and scraping vegetation and specifically on protected areas eg sand dunes is desirable. Please detail proposed method statement including what machinery will be used, size of machines and attachments available. How will the machines be used to meet the requirements above.
· Provide evidence of capability to deliver the scale of works indicated within the timeframe allocated. Indicate proposed start date.
· A clear statement of cost to include chargeable VAT for undertaking all works. Please quote separately for each location - 4 Locations to Scrape and 13 Locations for Scrub clearance.
