Description
SUPPLY OF A TELESCOPIC WORK PLATFORM 'BOOM LIFT' (Mini Tender)
The University of Birmingham is constructing a brand new state-of-the-art National Buried Infrastructure Facility (NBIF) - an experimental research facility for the investigation of Buried Infrastructure, expected completion early 2019. The £27.6M NBIF is part of the £217M UK Collaboratorium for Research on Infrastructure and Cities (UKCRIC) that will form a co-ordinated set of interlinked national laboratories. Further details can be found at http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/research/activity/ukcric/national-buried-infrastructure-facility.aspx.
The Telescopic Work Platform is required primarily to enable staff to configure research equipment at height (e.g. on the framework of the pit). This requires the lifting of people (with appropriate conformance to UK Health and Safety) with some equipment vertically up to a height of approximately 5 metres, up to a reach of approximately 5 meters.
The equipment must conform to the appropriate UK standards (e.g. EN280 for Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs)).
