Description

The Department for Education (DfE) intends to undertake a procurement exercise in Autumn 2018 for the National Centre of Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM).

The National Centre forms part of the overall drive to reinforce the importance of mathematics education, improve the teaching of mathematics and increase the mathematical attainment of young people. The contractor will work with and coordinate the work of the Maths Hubs network to enable all schools to implement the curricula and qualifications, and improve the quality of mathematics teaching more generally through strong leadership and a range of informed expert advice, resources, support and training. The contractor will drive the continued implementation of the Teaching for Mastery programme in primary and secondary.

Prior to the release of the invitation to tender, the DfE will undertake market engagement activity for interested providers to learn more about the services, network with other providers, and input into the development of specification.

Estimated Value:

The total funding available for these programmes will be made clear during the procurement process, however it is estimated to cost £3m annually.

***New on 11th September 2018.
We have arranged an Early Market Engagement day at which we will present further details of this procurement exercise. Our early market engagement event will:- explain to any potential bidder at a high level what our timeline is for this project, enable suppliers to create partnerships or other vehicles, should they wish, to bid, and give a general overview of the what the department is thinking.

The details of the event are:

Date: 24th September 2018
Timing: 2pm to 4pm
Location: Department for Education, Sanctuary Buildings, Great Smith Street, London, SW1P 3BT

Please confirm attendance via e-mail: Maths.Programme@education.gov.uk.

Due to the size of the room, we are restricting organisations to two representatives.***

The DfE will administer the procurement process electronically via the Bravo Solution portal. No hard copy documents will be issued; all communications with DfE (including final tender submission) will be conducted via the portal.

A supplier event will take place in London in the autumn of 2018, for organisations to gain a better understanding of the DfE's requirements. This will also provide an opportunity for networking and possible consortia discussions. If you are interested in hearing more about this opportunity, please email Maths.Programme@education.gov.uk to express interest. You will then be added to a direct mailing list for further information.

Bidders who are not already registered on the Bravo Solution portal can register here: https://education.bravosolution.co.uk/web/login/shtml

For any assistance with the portal, bidders should contact the Bravo helpdesk: help@bravosolution.co.uk

To register interest, please email: Maths.Programme@education.gov.uk.

START AND END DATES OF THE CONTRACTS:
Start Date: 1 August 2019
End Date: 31 July 2022 with the option to extend a further year.

Please note that this PIN is not a call to competition and the DfE is not bound to enter into any procurement activity because of it. With procurement being dependent on ministerial priorities, funding for the National Maths Education Centre is subject to change at DfE's absolute discretion.
