Description

The UK's Presidency of COP26 falls during the first significant test of the Paris Agreement - where countries are expected to reassess their NDCs against the overall temperature goal of the Paris Agreement. To keep 1.5°C alive, we must put the world on track to halve emissions by 2030 and reach net zero carbon emissions by the middle of the century. This project contributes to the global goal of securing global net-zero by 2050 and keeping global temperature rise limited to 1.5°C within reach, through every country's submission of national 2030 emissions reductions targets (Nationally Determined Contributions, or NDCs) and long-term climate strategies (LTS) with net zero by 2050 commitments.

The development of net zero LTS in ASEAN Member States is crucial for meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement and ensure that economic growth and prosperity are preserved for decades ahead, and for ASEAN to establish robust regional and national responses to adverse climate change impacts. ASEAN countries need to formulate and implement ambitious LTS that will help to avoid the lock-in in emissions-intensive energy sources and pursue a sustainable development path that allows ASEAN countries to leverage the opportunities emerging from the low carbon transition.

The British High Commission Singapore is planning to host 3 regional ASEAN workshops on technical capacity building for developing and implementing long-term climate strategies (LTS) and we are seeking a supplier who can provide all services and products necessary to plan, organise and deliver these 3 workshops.

The aim of the workshops is to increase technical capacity across ASEAN countries on LTS development and implementation, to enable more ASEAN countries to announce political commitments to reaching net-zero by 2050, to produce and begin designing LTS Vision Documents (LTV) and LTS, through technical expertise on areas of common interest to ASEAN Member States, and the facilitation of sharing best practices from the region and globally.
