Description
i) The Hull Maritime Programme of work is a £30m development of four sites and two historic ships, which will celebrate Hull's maritime heritage.
ii) A major element of the project is the refurbishment and redisplay of the Hull Maritime Museum. To achieve this all of the museum's 50,000 objects will need to be transferred to temporary storage.
iii) One of the first elements of this work to be undertaken will be to remove two large paintings from the museum's main staircase area. These two paintings along with 10 others from the museum's collection will require packing and transportation to a conservation studio for essential conservation treatment including repairs of their frames and re-glazing. A full specification of the works required in this tender is included in Schedule 2 of the ITT - Part 1 - Specification, but will briefly entail the following;
1. Removal
Contractor to arrange removal and packing of the objects listed in Schedule 2 Specification.
2. Transport
Contractor to arrange transport of the objects to their facility for conservation.
3. Conservation
Contractor to carry out conservation treatments for all objects, including repairs on their frames and re-glazing.
4. Return-Transport
Once the contractor has completed the conservation works, a return transport should be arranged for the objects to be transferred to a long-term storage facility specified at a later stage by the Authority.
