Description

Background
The house in Oaklands was left in the will of a local doctor in 1932. Over subsequent years the trustees have opened three rooms to incorporate a local history museum. One room (formally known as the John Button Room) has been cleared with the aim to set out to display a complete mix of items currently in store.

Context
The museum consists of three adjoining rooms within the mid - late Victorian period house.
The museum adjoins the local library and Council offices.
Room measurements:
• Length 7.5 m (incl doors)
• Width 4.1 m
• Height 3 m
The room is entered via the library foyer and two museum rooms.
The room has two exit doors: one unused, the other leading to the Council offices and potentially disabled access.
Two windows with central heating radiators beneath them are on the N and E external walls.
Electrics: 3 double sockets on 2 walls (N and E), 1 double socket in centre of floor
Lighting: Central hanging rail of spotlights
Disabled access required as thoroughfare.

Aim
For the third room (previously known as the John Button Room) to be used to display the museum collection of artefacts linked to the history of the town, from c.1800 to the present day.
