Description
The Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP), commissioning on behalf of NHS England and the health departments of the UK Devolved Nations who wish to participate, invites expressions of interest from suitable providers who are able to provide a National Clinical Audit of Psychosis in England and Wales as part of the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP).
This contract is being tendered under the Public Contracts Regulation 2015 under an open procurement procedure and has been advertised in accordance with EU requirements.
Aims of this National Clinical Audit:
The overarching aim of the National Clinical Audit of Psychosis (NCAP) is the collection, analysis and effective reporting of robust comparative data on the quality of care delivered to patients treated within secondary care mental health services.
The programme is expected to:
Consider from the outset the future local usability of the audit outputs, and plan all audit methodologies to maximise their potential to drive quality improvement for patients
Identify from the outset the full range of audiences for the reports and other audit outputs, and tailor the outputs accordingly
Achieve and maintain close alignment with relevant NICE national guidelines and quality standards throughout the audit, as appropriate
Consider from the outset how the audit will be designed to maximise the quality and completeness of data captured and how the data quality will be assessed, enhanced and reported
Consider the value and feasibility of linking data at individual patient level to other relevant national datasets either from the outset or in the future, and plan for these linkages from the inception of the audit
Scope of this National Clinical Audit:
The scope of this national clinical audit programme will include the following three work streams:
A continuous prospective core audit of key measures on the processes and outcomes of psychosis care delivered in secondary care services
Starting from year 2, annual 'spotlight' case note audits of specific patient cohorts
A scoping exercise to determine the feasibility of extending the core audit to patients with psychosis in forensic psychiatry services
The scope of this national clinical audit programme will exclude:
Young people receiving care from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
Collection of data from primary care settings
The development of new patient reported experience or outcome measures (PREMs/ PROMs)
The successful supplier will build on the experience of the National Audit of Schizophrenia (NAS) to provide a national clinical audit of psychosis focussing on NHS-funded care to adults aged 16 and over.
