Description

HEE and NHSE/I plan to commission one or more providers (working collaboratively), with experience and evidence of relevant success in developing learning resources and training staff, to deliver training, using the train the trainer methodology to deliver a standardised level of bespoke training developed specifically for staff working with CYP-in inpatient settings. There is an identified need in these services for specific autism training. The proposed training is designed to equip staff to provide services in this specific specialised setting.

The training will complement the existing CAMHs Tier 4 IAPT training and focus on the needs of staff teams delivering care inpatient care and require Tiers 1-3 capabilities of the Core Capabilities Framework for Supporting Autistic People in order to deliver services at Tier 3 capability. The training uses team-based approaches to address key co-morbidities and institutionalisation.  It will employ problem solving approaches to make cultural change enabling trainers to have the flexibility to tailor the training to specific provider needs. Tier 1 & 2 training in the future will be included within the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training. Curriculum development must liaise with the team developing the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training to complement and align the content.
