REFERENCE: SC6889/18

The University of Birmingham is constructing a brand new state-of-the-art National Buried Infrastructure Facility (NBIF) - an experimental research facility for the investigation of Buried Infrastructure, expected completion early 2019. The ?27.6M NBIF is part of the ?217M UK Collaboratorium for Research on Infrastructure and Cities (UKCRIC) that will form a co-ordinated set of interlinked national laboratories. A Telehandler is required for the following essential functions.

1) to load or distribute soils / sands / aggregate

ii. to perform the above process in reverse, i.e. from the drop off conveyor belt system back onto a conveyor that re-fills the silos.
iii. Approx. 400m3 of material (pit section dimensions of 8m x 5m x 10m).

2) to carry a mini-excavator and possibly a skid-steer within the research pit environment
i. mini excavator/skid steer approx. 2400kg in weight
ii. to enable a stable platform so the mini excavator may be lifted into the research pit by an overhead crane
