Description

The aim of the project is to provide a thorough and detailed analysis of the EU Norway bilateral agreement and current and dormant EU fisheries partnership agreements. The objectives are summarised below:
1. Present the fishing rights granted in each agreement and analyse the development of each agreement over the last 10 years;
2. Analyse the utilisation of each agreement by all parties, including individual EU member states. The aim is to present data for a minimum of 3 years, but if data is available this will be extended to a maximum of 10 years.
3. Analyse the value of each agreement to the UK and its home-nations. The analysis will be for a minimum of 3 years. Value of fish landings by UK vessels and to UK ports will be presented and the impact on the supply chain and the profitability of the fleet will be investigated; also analyse the cost to the UK of the EU-Norway agreement, in terms of the value of the UK quotas and access that Norway receives via the agreement;
4. Analyse the value of each agreement to other EU members states. Value will focus on the value of fish landed under each agreement;
5. For the EU Norway bilateral agreement, analyse the value to Norway of the fish landed by Norwegian vessels. Analyse whether any landings by Norwegian vessels are made to EU ports; and
6. Consider the impact, particularly on the UK, if each agreement had not existed.
