Description
The ÄKTA pure is a flexible and intuitive modular system for the reliable purification of proteins and other biomolecules. The instrument is a FPLC type system.
GE healthcare alone manufacture this type of equipment in a protein separation format to the required specification.
The Pure is the latest system that has replaced the AKTA Purifier and AKTA Explorer systems. It is compatible with LMB's existing systems (120+ units) and uses the same buffer and column stock deployed in the LMB and specifically backwardly compatible with the existing redundant AKTA Purifier systems used with in the laboratory, and most importantly able to use the existing methods and protocols deployed on the systems they are replacing. More importantly retains consistancey of expermential and research results which is vitally important.
The Pure is designed for liquid protein purification applications, rapid purity analysis in method development and drug target characterisation. The system provides reliable, high-resolution purification of target molecules. This is achieved from extremely small amounts or concentrations of starting material, all the way up to large quantity separations.
The Pure can perform effective separations from molecules as diverse as intact proteins, protein complexes, and nucleotides. It attains high sample recovery and stability as the complete flowpath is manufactured from inert and biocompatible materials. The instruments resolution is optimised by the connection of columns directly to the multiwavelength UV cell and also by minimised sample dilution in the tubing, valve, and flow cells. In addition to this the instrument has a novel pump design for flexible flow and pressure range, enabling high as well as low pressure separations making the Pure a very flexible system.
