Description

NHS England's Cumbria and the North East wish to commission an Alternative Provider Medical Services contract (currently delivered as Blaydon GP Practice within the Gateshead West area of Tyne and Wear) and are inviting suitably qualified providers to deliver these services.

The list size of the practice is 1,347 patients and the service receives patients from; Blaydon, Ryton, Crookhill, Stella, Winlaton and Crawcrook as well as all other wards within Gateshead West.

The aim of the service is to deliver essential, additional and enhanced services to registered patients from a premises located in Blaydon.

The contract will be awarded for a period of 5 years and contract commencement will be Saturday 1 August with service delivery beginning Monday 3 August 2015.

Under the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 the contracting authorities must consider:

• How what is proposed to be procured might improve the economic, social and environmental well-being of the relevant area. (area is the geographic area for which the procurement is taking place)
• How, in conducting the process of procurement, it might act with a view to securing the improvement.

The North of England Commissioning Support Unit (NECS) is managing the procurement process for and on behalf of NHS England's Cumbria and the North East (the contracting authority).

NECS is utilising an electronic tendering tool to manage this procurement and communicate with potential providers.
