Description

Tennis in Parks form a key element in the delivery of the Worcester City Plan. Worcester City Council has an exciting opportunity for the operation of 2 premier City centre park tennis venues which are being transformed with significant investment in 2019. As a key partner, this is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious organisation to increase participation and further to retain all of the court fee and coaching income within the arrangements. The tennis operator will retain all fees and charges, including coaching fees in line with the adopted fees approved by full council.

Worcester City Council is inviting Tenders from Potential Suppliers for provision of the operation of 5 tennis courts in Cripplegate Park and 2 tennis courts in Gheluvelt Park in the City Centre in Worcester. The Council is keen to hear from potential operators how they will deliver the requirements for maintenance, participation targets and the integration of free tennis into the activity programme.

Worcester City Council is a District Council, based in the historic heart of the county of Worcestershire, and provides essential services for over 95,000 residents. Working with the local community we aim to create a prosperous city and to improve the quality of life for everyone. Providing accessible, efficient and best value services are at the heart of everything we do. We are constantly striving to meet the demands and expectations of our citizens and customers.

This tender is for the operations of park Tennis Courts - to meet the requirements within the current Worcester Tennis Network following a successful bid to the Transforming Tennis Together LTA programme, as a part of a £314,000 overall planned investment in tennis facilities in the Parks, and the development of an inclusive and affordable parks tennis participation programme. This investment in park tennis courts is part of a wider capital investment across Worcester City and its environs of approximately £2M to develop a range of projects including indoor court provision with community access. Partners for the capital investment scheme include Royal Grammar School, Nunnery Wood Sixth Form and Droitwich Tennis Club working with the City Council. The Network is already established and includes the development and delivery of player and coaching pathways and exit routes to existing and new tennis provision in a range of sectors in Worcester City and its environs - education; clubs; and leisure.
As a key member of the Worcester Tennis Network the Supplier would be expected to develop strategic and operational links to all partners within the Tennis Network, a list is provided within the tender pack on the portal, and should also link to the kiosk Suppliers at Gheluvelt Park for equipment hire and welfare purposes and the management of the Smokehouse at Cripplegate park.
