Description

The University require a number of contractors to undertake the installation, repair and maintenance of the University's telephone, data and fibre optic cabling systems. Currently the framework have 3 contractors on it who each have the capability to undertake one or more of the University's structured cabling systems, which are Molex, Systimax SCS and ADC Krone and the blown fibre systems, which are Emtelle / BT Unysis & ADC Krone.
Future installations for new build and major refurbishment works will be Cat6a Molex only. Small works will predominantly be for Cat5e and the structured cabling solution required will be Molex.
The University requires that the core inter-building fibres on campus are covered by a maintenance contract. Contractors must therefore be able to demonstrate their capability to offer maintenance services as part of their portfolio.
All works must be in accordance with The University of Manchester Specification for the Installation of Voice, Structured and Fibre Optic Cabling Systems EPM PM19
The contractor/s must provide an on site maintenance response within a 4 hour period over core business hours.
There is no requirement for the contractors to make connections between the cables they install and the existing voice cabling systems, i.e. jumpering / patching of telephone systems.
The current systems include:
15,000 telephone extensions (approx)
Approximately 80,000 room outlets made up of Cat5e and Cat6a
In excess of 35KM of fibre optic cable ( including blown fibre)
Additional project work will be required within this contract as the University is continually building or refurbishing area's of the campus as its requirements change. These works range from small projects managed 'in house' to major projects managed by external consultants.
Project work will be obtained through competitive quotation.
The contract is for a 3 year period with a possible one year extensions.
