Description

The scope of this contract will be to create a framework of capabilities that outline the knowledge and skills that are required to deliver peer support to autistic people.

This project will require a contractor to work with a core project group and in co-production with experts with lived experience to construct a capability framework for Autism Peer Support. It is expected that the contractor will draw on and evaluate the relevance of capabilities that have previously been identified as useful for delivering peer support in generic settings for this work and build on these, adding additional unique skills and knowledge that are required to support autistic people.

As part of the process contractors will also be required to translate intelligence gathered from a national stakeholder engagement exercise to identify autism specific knowledge elements, into capabilities. The supplier will then be required to map these together with any relevant peer support generic capabilities to create a framework that describes the knowledge and skills required to successfully deliver peer to autistic people.
The outcomes of this contract will be used to inform the next phase of the project which will be to develop a national education curriculum for autism peer support training. The contractor appointed to deliver the mapping contract would be expected to work with HEE to support the smooth flow of information and outputs from this project for any supplier that is appointed to undertake the work to develop an education curriculum.
