Description

The service will offer an integrated specialist nursing service and a specialist physiotherapy led exercise group programme for people diagnosed with Parkinson's or related movement disorders including vascular Parkinsonism ( if the individual is able benefit from services provided), Multiple System Atrophy, Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy or Lewy Body Dementia if a previous diagnosis of Parkinson's has been made. Medications require careful introduction and titration to minimise the risk of side effects, therefore, people require support and advice when adjusting to new treatments. The Parkinson's specialist nurses are able to spend valuable time with individuals to ensure treatment regimens are implemented effectively, risks are minimised and medicines are used appropriately, thus reducing unnecessary waste. The service is provided for those people diagnosed with Parkinson's/ Parkinsonism who are registered with a GP for South Lincolnshire CCG.
