Description
Social Work England will be the new, specialist regulator of the social work profession in England. We are an independent public protection body, setting professional, education and training standards for social workers:
• We set the standards that regulate the social work profession, ensuring that children, adults, families and communities receive the best support in times of need.
• We operate at arm's length from government. That independence means we can respond to the changing demands of delivering social work practice safely and effectively.
• We want social workers in England to be trusted, highly skilled, safe and effective in their practice and our standards reflect that.
• During 2018, we will work with the current regulator (the Health & Care Professions Council) to ensure a smooth transition and continue to meet with social workers operating in different settings to communicate what the change means for them.
We do not expect to begin regulating the profession before spring 2019. As such, we are currently working in readiness to launch this brand new organisation including a recruitment drive, premises and creation of digital services.
A new brand is required at this stage of our journey to better reflect and communicate Social Work England's mission and personality. We want to help establish its future role in a busy landscape of organisations working with the profession to ensure we hit the ground running when we launch.
Work to build our profile and credibility among key audiences, including social workers, service users, employers and the public starts now. We are mindful that this is the beginning of a long journey to become the new regulator. As well as ensuring that our external presence is credible and respected, we also need to ensure that our brand is passionately advocated by the 120 or so new staff members we recruit.
2. Objective
• To appoint a specialist design agency who can help articulate our core values as an organisation and guide staff through the step-by-step process needed to turn ideas into a brand by October 2018.
• To develop a branding identity for Social Work England that will enable the organisation to clearly, consistently and compellingly communicate to its audiences by January 2019.
