Description

The University has recently been awarded a Wellcome Trust Multi-user equipment grant and wants to purchase a "full spectrum" spectral flow cytometer system with a clear and demonstrable ability to measure highly multiplexed fluorescent probes bound to mammalian cell targets, in a high-throughput manner. The spectral cytometer will be housed in the Newcastle Flow Cytometry Core Facility (NU-FCCF) within the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Biosciences Institute. The objectives of the equipment are summarized as follows:
• To allow high parameter multiplexing (>35 parameters) of widely available reagents (such as fluorophore bound antibodies) targeting mammalian cells with a particular focus on cell types/markers implicated in infection and immunity.
• To be able to detect and differentiate between spectrally similar as well distinct fluorophores bound to probes at the single cell level.
• To be able to provide high-throughput sample acquisition in the form of an integrated 96 well (minimum) sampler system in order to meet the high through put demands of a scientific core facility.
• To be able to measure cellular auto-fluorescence as a defined parameter and to allow for the subtraction of this signal to improve measurement resolution.
The scope of this contract is for the supply, delivery and installation of the equipment as detailed in the Invitation to Tender document to the University, with after-sales support and 60 months warranty and maintenance.
