Description
The Port Communities Resilience Fund (PCRF) is a £1M capital investment scheme in the Avonmouth and Lawrence Weston Ward to deliver an increase in the resilience of the port communities. PCRF has three themes: A) Thriving Highstreets, B) Jobs, Training and Enterprise and C) Community Facilities.
Maker Lab sits under the Jobs, Training and Enterprise theme and seeks to leverage digital manufacturing and fabrication technologies to embed principles of the circular economy in the business models of SMEs in Avonmouth and Lawrence Weston. This will consist of:
1. Technical training in equipment aligned to the standards of Maker Labs 2.. Structured learning on Circular Economy suggested content found here though there is no requirement to follow this pathway.
3. Using the knowledge and training provided participant SMEs are supported in adopting these techniques into their business practice and/or pre and early stage start-ups are supported in business planning.
4. A community resource whereby aspiration and interest in STEAM-centred training and skills is increased and the perceptions of manufacturing/engineering related employment are challenged in under-represented groups.
The total award amount for this tender would be £220,000 with a requirement that £110,000 be used for capital costs only.
