Description

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY OUTREACH EXERCISE

The Homeland Security Group (HSG) sits within the Home Office and has responsibility for work to counter terrorism, state threats and cut serious and organised crime.

The Science and Technology (S&T) team within HSG works with policy makers to identify and develop solutions in respect of physical science, behaviour and social science, data and digital security challenges.

S&T commissions research projects and undertakes solution test and trial activities which feed into policy decisions that can lead to large-scale procurement exercises. S&T itself spends in the region of £4.5m per annum on research commissions and works closely with the separate, but linked, Home Office Science organisation that separately spends c. £15.5m per annum on research.

The purpose of this outreach exercise is to capture, without commitment, 'headline' expressions of interest and capability from the marketplace to build upon existing knowledge and to inform how we might commission services in the future. With this in mind, a very simple 'tick box' response is sought to this exercise.
