Medway Council Public Health is looking to procure an organisation that works in street-based or supported accommodation settings to recruit a full-time outreach coordinator and a part-time outreach worker, to deliver assertive outreach with peer mentors and support the existing treatment service outreach team. The outreach coordinator will recruit peer mentors who have lived and living experience and coordinate staff who engage in assertive outreach work. The outreach worker will support access to treatment for those who misuse drugs and experience severe and multiple disadvantages (SMD). This project will feed into other projects across Medway, to reduce drug and alcohol-related deaths, improve pathways between services, and increase the number of people with SMD accessing harm reduction interventions and treatment services. The funding for this project has come from the Supplemental Substance Misuse Treatment and Recovery Grant which supports the Government's 2021 Drug Strategy 'From harm to hope' in its ambition to build a world-class drug and alcohol treatment and recovery system across England. The Contract is anticipated to commence on 1st June 2022 and will continue for a period of 12 months, unless terminated in accordance with the Conditions of Contract.
