Description

To reduce bycatch of sensitive species which includes cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises), elasmobranchs (sharks, skates and rays), seabirds and seals in line with the Fisheries Act 2020 ecosystem objective that 'incidental catches of sensitive marine species are minimised and, where possible, eliminated' and the UK Marine Strategy to meet Good Environmental Status. It will also support the implementation of the UK Bycatch Mitigation Initiative (published August 2022).
