The University of Derby wishes to install a fibre between One Friar Gate Square to our Markeaton Street Campus. This will require extending the existing duct to One Friar Gate Square. The suggested route is shown on http://goo.gl/L4vxrJ in red or orange, depending on where the existing duct ends. Existing ducts are shown in green sections. Respondents are responsible for proving the route.

Full completion and University of Derby IT Service technical and quality signoff of all works must be achieved no later than 31 July 2015.
It is imperative that included in your submission, the absolute last date for all orders to be received by you to enable this work to be guaranteed for delivery is clearly identified.

Please provide:
Quote for extending the duct into One Friar Gate Square
Quote to install, terminate, label, test and warranty (25 year) the installation of 24 core OS2 singlemode fibre with corrugated steel armoured that are flame-retardant and designed for indoor/outdoor use
Option to upgrade this to a 48 core fibre.
Evidence of working with Councils to obtain the necessary permission to implement a duct on the public footpath and across major roads in a timely manner.

Notes:
Fibre must be presented in 19" panels. The panels should be capable of housing 48 cores per 1U and terminations should be presented as duplex LC connections.

The fibre should be Corning FWCT01-S0024-U004 or equivalent.

The duct must conform to NJUG guidelines and cable ducts must be installed in 100mm diameter purple BS EN 61386-24 compliant duct containment.

All civil engineering based installations which require external installations within the ground, must meet the following requirements:
A Section 50 license will be required for all duct works proposed in existing Public Highway.

Trenches should generally be excavated 300mm wide. 100mm diameter ducts are to be provided, with access chambers at all road crossings and significant horizontal or vertical changes in direction. The duct bedding is to comprise a minimum 100mm thickness of 10mm nominal single-size granular bed & surround (granular material processed to meet the requirements of BS EN 13242, BS EN 1260).

Ducts are to generally be installed at a depth (to top of duct) of 350mm in footways and verges / soft landscaping areas and 600mm in carriageways / driveways.
In hard paved areas (in both Public Highway and private land), where the ducts are laid below the existing construction, Type 1 Material is to be used as backfill to bring levels up to the underside of the existing bituminous construction before reinstating in accordance with the specifications set out below.

Prior to commencement of the duct installation works, a walk over condition survey is to be carried out with the Highway Authority along the proposed duct...
