Description
The General Dental Council (GDC) is looking to enter a formal contractual arrangement with a suitably qualified organisation to:
- Provide an annual review of a sample of Fitness to Practices (FtP) cases and give an opinion on the decision made. The GDC requests this audit, undertaken by a regulatory legal professional, in order to provide an objective assessment of the decisions made as part of its FtP processes. The remit of the audit is to consider a number of cases, selected by the GDC at random from the various stages of its FtP processes, and make an assessment as to whether complaints are being considered appropriately in accordance with the correct principles and in the public interest.
- Be the independent member of our Quality Review Group (QAG). The Purpose of QAG is to provide scrutiny and an opportunity for the business to act on high risk decisions, including the qualitative aspects of investigation and presentation, made at Initial Assessment Decision Group, Casework, Case Examiners, Investigation Committee, Interim Orders Committee, Voluntary Removal and the Panels of the Professional Conduct Committee, Health and Performance Committee.
QAG meet on a monthly basis (11 months per year), and what we require is an independent member for this group to:
Familiarise themselves in advance of the meeting with decisions of cases being considered to ensure that detailed and robust discussions can take place.
Declare conflicts of interest at the QAG meeting on a case scheduled for discussion.
Assist the identification or suitable remedial action as part of our quality assurance and learning process and to ensure deliver of agreed activity.
