Description
The Contracting Authority is planning to undertake an open procurement process to award a three year contract with the option to extend by up to 2 years (3+1+1). The estimated total value (£7.5m) of the opportunity included in this notice is based on the total potential contract term of 5 years (3+1+1).
Service Requirements
The aims and objectives of the service will be to:
Provide a non-emergency patient transport service that;
- Meets locally defined outcomes
- Meets the requirements of the document 'Eligibility Criteria for Patient Transport Services (Department of Health, 2007).
Local defined outcomes
The provision of a flexible, high quality Patient focused service which is safe, clinically effective and represents best value. Specifically the local outcomes include:
- Patients will arrive and depart safely and in a timely manner;
- There will be no detriment to the Patient's health and wellbeing during their journey;
- Provide a Patient focused booking system;
- Apply the eligibility criteria and local NEPTS decision making tool in a consistent and equitable manner;
- Provide high quality information to Patients enquiring about NEPTS and signposting those who are not eligible to appropriate local alternatives;
- Provide an integrated NEPTS which supports:
Planned and frequent journeys for Priority Patients;
Discharge from hospital;
Short notice urgent journeys;
Planned routine journeys.
- Provide high quality Patient experience and satisfaction;
- The Provider must take action to reduce carbon emissions and the carbon footprint of the journeys where possible.
The service is required to operate a local single point of access for booking by patients and healthcare professionals, deliver non-emergency patient transport to support priority users, outpatient services, hospital discharges and non-emergency inter-facility transfers.
