Description
Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) is looking to commission a Consultant to develop and deliver a 'Green' Coastal Ambassador Programme in line with the themes and topics included in the recently launched Green Tourism Toolkit, in order to help empower local coastal businesses to become and champion becoming 'green' and sustainable businesses, and to find practical ways to respond to the effects of climate change and the associated ecological changes that currently face us.
The project is delivered in the context of a highly seasonal coastal economy, with the aim of:
Supporting coastal visitor economy businesses to survive and thrive
Supporting coastal communities to access employment, and develop their careers, through raising aspirations and upskilling
It is founded on local ownership through engagement with coastal employers, learning providers and wider stakeholders.
Local stakeholders include:
Greater Lincolnshire LEP, Lincolnshire County Council, Coastal Developers Forum, an Employer Steering Group, Local Learning Providers, Visit Lincolnshire Coast DBID
National connections include:
Coastal Communities Alliance, Coastal Communities All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG), House of Lords Select Committee - The Future of Seaside Towns
This project has three key activity areas:
Promoting Coastal Careers - raising aspirations, promoting career opportunities, supporting skills transfer
Supporting Skills Innovation - off season training, local employer skills leadership, apprenticeship development
Building and disseminating a Coastal Evidence (economy and community) Base - improving our understanding of the seaside/ coastal economic context and articulating skills gaps and shortages, seasonality issues, and the opportunity to learn from other seaside economies
The Ambassador Programme shall aim to:
• Train and certify 10 - 20 Green tourism Ambassadors
• Encourage involvement of 10-20 Coastal Tourism Businesses
• Assist in promoting career progression and improve employability of 10-20 individuals
