Description

Coventry University Group is a forward-looking, modern university with a proud tradition as a provider of high-quality education and a focus on impactful research. Research at Coventry University forms a key strategic pillar in the 2021 Corporate Plan and has grown significantly over the last 4 years. The increase in quantity and quality of research has been highlighted by the rise in its research QS star ratings, and this trajectory of growth is expected to continue into the future.

The University is currently lacking a centralised institutional repository system that will allow researchers to store, externally share and preserve the final dataset outputs which they generate through their research, as well as allow Coventry University to consistently manage the data. The university also requires the ability to demonstrate compliance with funder open access requirements for research datasets, for both current and future funders (e.g. EPSRC).

As the University's research activity grows, CUG is seeking to procure a repository to host its research data outputs. This must be a fully managed software as a service (SaaS) solution.

Such a solution will provide clear benefits to the University:-

o To ensure compliance with Funder requirements and University Policy with respect to funded research outputs
o Discoverability of research data to improve the visibility and potential impact of University research outputs, and University research activity.
o User experience - improved interfaces and functionality for staff to manage their research outputs easily and efficiently in a seamless workflow.
o Business continuity - Effective succession planning improved through service design.
o Unified infrastructure- The purpose of the system is envisaged to produce unified infrastructure to support the management, preservation of and access to all the research datasets and allow us to better support Research Data Management activity.

Bidders should note the limited available budget for this engagement, and the fact that it is not possible to exceed this.
