Description

The Initial Teacher Education (ITE) data research brings together data from a range of sources to identify and describe the future teaching workforce in Further Education (FE). It enables us to understand the 'pipeline' of teachers and any changes in the provision of ITE in FE. It is used across the Foundation to inform support and development for teachers, as well as supporting our recruitment initiatives. The data is used by sector bodies and the Department for Education (DfE) to inform policy-making and other research.
The aims of the ITE data research are to identify and explain:
- The range and type of organisations that deliver ITE provision
- The type of provision that is offered
- The number of trainee teachers undertaking ITE
- The demographics of trainee teachers and the subject they teach
- The proportion of learners who progress to teaching positions
in the FE sector.
