Description

Scope of the Contract
• develop a network of tiered multiprofessional genomic champions across the GMS system to support workforce development and interface with other stakeholders
• work with Royal Colleges to influence and inform professional curricula
• co-ordinate the development of clinical pathways to facilitate the national dissemination of good working practice and expertise
• develop a competency and assessment framework for the Genomic Champions
• create education and training tools to support workforce development
3. Detailed Requirements
As a minimum:
• support the work and outputs of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges Genomics Clinical Leads Group.
• Create a network of multiprofessional tiered Genomics Clinical Champions.
• work with the GEP and Genomics Clinical Leads Groups to develop a competency and assessment framework for a network of Genomic Champions.
• work closely with the Genomics Education Programme to provide input and expertise into the development of education and training resources to meet the needs for mainstreaming genomics within medicine.
• co-ordinate and undertake a systematic review of the genomic content of specialty training curricula, and the development of core competencies to increase consistency.
• Working with specialists within the system to co-ordinate the development and capture a database of clinical pathways to facilitate the national dissemination of good working practice and expertise
• provide support to and link with training and education networks in the Genomic Medicine Service Alliances and Genomic Laboratory Hubs to disseminate the work undertaken, signpost to relevant training and education resources and opportunities and identify issues for discussion at relevant clinical leads group
• identify new areas of work, including surveys or evaluations
• present the work at relevant meetings and conferences
The successful supplier must as a minimum have members of the team who will be near completion of specialty training, either in clinical genetics or be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of genomics as relevant to their specialty and should have an interest in education and training.
Attendance at relevant network meetings and conferences will be required.
The supplier will need to:
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of the tender requirements and the approach
• Provide evidence of the capability of the clinical expertise and knowledge required to act as a Genomic Champion in the areas outlined above.
• Submit a comprehensive plan that demonstrates how the brief, and its specification will be met against the timescales
• Provide details of how Genomics and specifically this piece of work will improve the health and wellbeing of patients and their families?
• Provide a detailed breakdown, with each cost shown exclusive and inclusive of any applicable VAT.
The breakdown should demonstrate value for money and Cost Improvement process.
