Description

Expressions of Interest are requested to tender for a construction contract in order to provide the National Urban Training Facility (NUTF) on Salisbury Plain Training Area (SPTA) with subterranean training facilities.

Requirements are likely to include the following:
1. A subterranean training facility within the perimeter of the NUTF connected to existing buildings consisting of surface and sub-surface pre-cast concrete pipes and tunnels, cast in-situ concrete structures and fixed M&E including lighting, fire detection and alarm and mechanical ventilation.
2. A subterranean training facility outside the perimeter of the NUTF connected to existing buildings consisting of sub-surface pre-cast concrete pipes and tunnels, cast in-situ concrete structures and fixed M&E including lighting, fire detection and alarm and mechanical ventilation.
The effect to be achieved is training facilities that replicate a contemporary operating environment that has been subjected to modern warfare. The new facilities must enable the trainer to create realistic environments that cover a multitude of scenarios in the urban environment.

The proposed facilities are on SSSI. This will require careful planning so as not to intentionally or recklessly damage the features of special interest, disturb wildlife or cause damage to the surrounding grassland.
All necessary undertakings to meet planning, consent and condition requirements of local authority and other statutory bodies must be included as part of the deliverables.
