Description

Fire Risk Assessments have highlighted shortfalls in the provision of necessary Fire Precautions required to a number of school and corporate buildings. These issues are currently being mitigated by short term management actions, although in the medium to longer term, physical improvements to these buildings are required to make them fully compliant with current legislation. In addition, further works at Corporate and School sites are currently being designed and will need procuring over the next several years. This procurement exercise is to seek and appoint two suitable contractors to a framework for the delivery of Passive FRA works to both School and Corporate Sites. The passive works will include compartmentation works, fire doors, general building works, improvements to external exit points of which elements of work will be Contractor Design. The successful contractors are likely to be required to work alongside another contractor on site delivering Active FRA works and may be asked to provide Principal Contractor services to oversee the other contractor. Contractors successfully appointed to a position on the FRA Passive framework will receive individual orders for work done under standalone NEC Option A contracts. These orders may consist of one or several of either School Sites, Corporate Sites, or a combination of both sites. The release of orders will be dependent on the budget of the client and the number of fully designed sites. It is envisaged the available sites will be split evenly between the two successful contractors over the course of the framework, subject to satisfactory delivery of the works.
