Description
The Contract consists of the carrying out remedial structural repair works which are required to be carried out in accordance with the Structural Engineers specification and associated documents.
The Works and Specification are for remedial works to the external elevations of a six storey medium
rise dwelling at Riverstone Flats, Southend-on-Sea, Essex. The property is a purpose built medium rise flat block comprising a reinforced in situ concrete frame with external elevations of cavity infill brickwork.
The proposed remedial works primarily involve the introduction of additional expansion joints
within the external leaf of infill brickwork around the perimeter facade of the building, to alleviate
cracking of the external brickwork fabric.
In addition to the above, it is anticipated that stitching of cracks will be required to the brickwork
infill panels along with an allowance to undertake remedial wall tie insertion. Concrete repairs
will be necessary, primarily to the reinforced concrete parapet, at roof level, along with the
exposed floor slab edges. The proposed works will also require the removal and reinstatement
of the horizontal expansion joints, at the junctions of the brickwork infill panels and insitu
concrete floor slab edges.
A provisional item for cavity insulation removal works has also be included.
