Description
The new Power Hall will be a must-see Manchester experience - a living gallery which showcases a unique collection of historic working engines, powered by 21st century, carbon-neutral infrastructure. It tells the story of Manchester, an epicentre for the engine-driven ideas and industry that shaped the world as we experience it today.
The gallery's new narrative explores the story of our complex relationship with engines. Interactives are key to helping our visitors understand the human-engine relationship, focusing on the skills and senses used to run engines and their impact on people's lives.
We are seeking an interactive exhibit maker to create three interactives for the gallery:
- Care for the engine - visitors use their senses and skills to tend to an engine.
- Get in gear - visitors change the speed of a film by tinkering with a chain of gears.
- Stay on track - visitors create and test different shaped wheels.
These interactives will be sensory, fun, and inspired by tinkering. They will be suitable for ages five and up and will help deliver an imaginative, playful, and active setting for adults, families, and school groups.
