Description

3.1 The Halcyon, our current workboat was constructed in 2002. Over time, her responsibilities have grown beyond the initial design intent especially considering that our larger tugs are now stationed off island. As the workboat ages, it remains crucial for ensuring large commercial vessels can berth safely in St Helier and we must have confidence in its reliability to prevent any breakdowns.
Technological advancements including those related to crew safety, sustainability and welfare, have made significant strides in the 21 years since Halcyon was built. These advancements can have a profound impact on the overall safety and well-being of crew members which is crucial in the replacement vessel.
