Description

In taking on the functions of the devolved Adult Education Budget (AEB), NEMCA will become the commissioners of adult learning across the region. The AEB will be devolved to NEMCA from academic year (AY) 2024-25 onwards and will be worth ~£64m per annum to the region. Taking control of this devolved funding will allow NEMCA to make funding decisions on a place-based and forward-looking basis.

From academic year 2024-25 NEMCA will also take control of the Level 3 Free Courses for Jobs (FCfJ) programme. DfE have informed that NEMCA's indicative allocation for FCfJ will be ~£4.3m per annum. DfE have also confirmed the continuation of Skills Bootcamp funding for FY 2024-25 and on behalf of NEMCA, a proposal for just under £17m has been submitted to and approved by DfE, which includes provision for Skills Bootcamps across a range of key sectors and with full geographical coverage.
