Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) is a bespoke trading entity, and arm's length body of the Ministry of Defence. It manages a vast range of complex projects to buy and support all the equipment and services that the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force need to operate effectively. DE&S works closely with industry, including through partnering agreements and private finance initiatives.
A number of years ago DE&S procured a Project, Programme and Portfolio Management (P3M) system based on the Oracle product suite and consists of Primavera P6 pro and EPPM, Team Member (time recording), OBIEE, Unifier and Project Risk Analyser. The P3M system is deployed across DE&S enabling it to manage the range of projects. Within the system resource loaded schedules are maintained and monthly earned value management (EVM) cost performance reports are generated along with other reports in OBIEE.
